Marjorie Taylor is a self-taught artist whose work includes fabric brain art (neuroscience imagery in hooked rugs, beadwork and quilting), wearable art, and fabric sculptures.
Her most recent work is “vegan taxidermy:” animal replicas that are a mix of realism and fantasy. She covers hard foam armatures with a wide range of materials including faux fur, chenille, tapestry fabrics, and velvet. Her favorite type of covering is vintage needlepoint that she buys on ebay.
Finally, Marjorie embellishes the animals with lace, fabric trims, ribbon, beads, and various other materials (e.g., tiny watch pieces).
No actual animal parts are used in the construction.
